Open Graph Preview

See your link the way it will look when someone shares it.

What it checks

  • Fetches the page and reads og:title, og:description, og:image and twitter:card from its HTML.
  • Falls back to the <title> and meta description when the Open Graph versions are missing, as most platforms do.
  • Draws a share card with the image, domain, title and description for LinkedIn, Facebook, X, WhatsApp and Slack.
  • Loads og:image straight from your server and tells you when it fails to load.
  • Lists which of og:title, og:image, og:description and twitter:card are missing.

Reading the result

The five cards share one layout, so read them as a check of what each platform receives, not a copy of each app's design. If the image, title and description are right here, the content is right; the platforms differ mainly in cropping and how much text they show.

Fix a missing or broken og:image first, since a link without a picture gets scrolled past. Use an absolute https URL, an image of about 1200 by 630 pixels, and a server that does not block outside requests for it. If the preview says the image did not load, open the og:image address on its own to see why.

Platforms cache cards. After you change the tags, ask each one to fetch the page again, for example with LinkedIn's Post Inspector or Facebook's Sharing Debugger, or people keep seeing the old card.

Questions

Why does my card show the wrong title?

Without og:title, platforms use the page's <title>, which is written for search results and often carries your brand name or keywords. Add an og:title written for someone scrolling a feed.

Do I need twitter:card if I already have Open Graph tags?

X reads the Open Graph title, description and image, but uses twitter:card to pick the layout. Set it to summary_large_image for the large image card.

Can I preview a page that is not published yet?

Only if it is reachable at a public http or https address, because the tool fetches it the way a platform would. Pages on localhost, a private network or behind a login cannot be fetched.
