Meta Tag Checker
See exactly what search engines and social platforms read from a page.
What it checks
- Reads the <title> and meta description exactly as the HTML states them.
- Shows the canonical URL and the robots meta tag, and highlights the robots row when it contains noindex.
- Reports the lang attribute on the <html> element.
- Shows og:title and og:image, the two Open Graph tags share cards depend on most.
- Counts the hreflang alternate links and JSON-LD structured data blocks on the page.
- Reports the HTTP status and the final URL after following up to four redirects.
Reading the result
Start with the highlighted rows. noindex in the robots row keeps the page out of search results, so if the page should rank, remove it first. A missing title or description comes next, because search engines then write their own from whatever text they find.
Compare the canonical row with the final URL in the status line. If the canonical points somewhere else, search engines will usually index that other address instead. That is right for a duplicate page and wrong for a page you want to rank.
The checker reads the HTML your server sends, before any JavaScript runs. If your site adds tags with JavaScript and they show as missing here, crawlers that do not run scripts miss them too, so render them on the server. Fixing titles, descriptions and structured data across a whole site is what Page Optimizer does in a QuQi crew.
Questions
Why is Google showing a different title from the one here?
Google rewrites titles and descriptions when they are missing, too long or a poor match for the search. This tool shows what your page says; the SERP Snippet Preview shows how that text will truncate.
What does index, follow (default) mean in the robots row?
The page has no robots meta tag, so crawlers use the default: index the page and follow its links. You only need the tag to change that.
Does a JSON-LD count of zero matter?
Structured data is optional, but it is how search engines and AI assistants confirm facts such as your business name, products and articles. The Schema Markup Generator gives you a starting block.
Can it check a page behind a login?
No. It fetches public pages without cookies, so a page behind a login, paywall or bot firewall returns that screen instead of your tags.
This checks one page, once. Your crew checks every page, every week, and fixes what it finds.
