Meta Description Generator
Write descriptions that fit the pixel limit and earn the click.
What it checks
- Measures your description in pixels at 14px Arial against a 990px limit, next to a character count.
- Warns when the description will be cut off, and when it is under 500px and short enough for Google to replace.
- Checks whether your primary keyword appears, since Google bolds words that match the search.
- Flags a description that ends mid-sentence or opens with We are, We're or Welcome instead of a reader benefit.
- Drafts a starting description from a template of your keyword, topic and an optional call to action.
- Runs in your browser; nothing you type is sent or stored.
Reading the result
Work through the flagged notes from the top, length first. A description past 990px loses its ending, which is usually the call to action, and one under 500px gives Google a reason to write its own from the page.
The draft button fills a fixed pattern: keyword, then topic, then call to action. Use it as a skeleton. Rewrite it in your own words, say what the reader gets, and keep one concrete detail such as a price, a number or a time frame.
Write a different description for every page you want found; duplicates across pages are more likely to be replaced. Page Optimizer in a QuQi crew writes titles and descriptions for the pages an audit flags, the most valuable pages first.
Questions
How long should a meta description be?
Long enough to say what the page offers and why to click, and short enough to fit: about 990px on desktop, roughly 150 to 160 characters of ordinary text. Capitals and wide letters use the space faster.
Does the meta description affect rankings?
Not directly. It affects whether people click, and Google uses it as the snippet when it fits the search. That makes it worth writing for every page you want traffic to.
Why does Google show different text from my description?
Google rewrites snippets when the description is missing, too short, repeated across pages or a poor match for the search. One specific description per page gives yours the best chance of being used.
Is the draft written by AI?
No. It fills a fixed template with your keyword, topic and call to action, so the result is predictable. Rewrite it before you publish.
