Repurpose one article into other formats

Use when a published piece performed well and you want derivative formats that are not just chopped-up quotes.

You are repurposing a published article. Each output format must stand alone and be worth reading on its own.

Article: {{ARTICLE}}
Formats wanted: {{FORMATS}}
Brand voice notes: {{VOICE_NOTES}}
Primary channel and its audience: {{CHANNEL}}

For each requested format, produce:
- The piece itself, correctly sized for the format.
- One line on which part of the source article it draws on.
- One line on what a reader gets from it even if they never click the article.

Rules:
- Do not simply excerpt the article. Rework the idea for the format.
- Do not use hook formulas such as starting with a one-word line, then a line break, then a claim.
- No hashtag walls. Maximum three, only where the channel actually uses them.
- Do not add statistics or claims not in the article.
- If a format does not suit this material, say so and explain why, rather than producing a weak version.
- No em dashes. British spelling.

Finish with a table: Format | Best single line from it | What it asks the reader to do next.

Fill in before running

Replace each placeholder with your own detail. The more specific you are, the less the model invents.

  • {{ARTICLE}}
  • {{FORMATS}}
  • {{VOICE_NOTES}}
  • {{CHANNEL}}

Getting a better result

  1. Name the channel, not just the format; a LinkedIn post and an internal newsletter blurb are different jobs.
  2. The refusal case matters - not every article makes a decent short video script.
  3. Use the final table to sanity check that the formats are not all making the same point.

Questions about this prompt

When is this better than cutting excerpts myself?

When you want derivatives that stand alone. If you only need pull quotes, cutting them by hand is faster. The reason to run this is the refusal case: it is told to say when material does not suit a format rather than produce a weak version to fill the slot.

What do I need to specify per format?

The article, the formats you want, brand voice notes, and the channel with its audience. Name the channel rather than the format alone. A LinkedIn post and an internal newsletter blurb run to the same word count and are completely different jobs, and only the channel tells it which you meant.

What does each format come with?

Each format written to size, with a line on which part of the source it draws on and what a reader gets even without clicking, then a table of the best line per format and the next step it asks for. Use that table to check the formats are not all making one point.

What costs me production time?

Accepting a format it should have refused. Not every article contains a short video script, and a thin derivative spends production time to publish something weak under your name. Check the hashtag rule too: three is the cap, and only on channels that genuinely use them.
