A Captions alternative for businesses that would rather not film
Captions, the app from the company now called Mirage, is built for the video you film yourself: AI Edit adds cuts, captions, B-roll and music, with avatars and lip-synced dubbing close at hand. QuQi starts from your website instead. Video Producer plans every scene around your products, stock footage, a voice and music, and delivers a finished film in each channel’s shape.
Why people look for an alternative to Captions
Three needs come up in reviews and in the lists of Captions alternatives. Its own pricing and help pages explain the first two.
Credits that go fast on AI work
AI Edit, avatar videos and dubbing all draw on the same monthly credits, and Prompt to Video spends 16 for every 6 seconds it makes. Most plans cannot buy extra credits one by one, so a heavy month means a bigger tier, and credits are spent even on a video you never export.
A price list written for iPhone
The pricing page says its plans and prices reflect iOS only. Its free version covers basic tools such as trimming and transitions, and AI Edit, Clips and the chat editor are listed from Max, so trying the AI side means paying first.
Every video starts with you
Captions works on the clip you shot or the prompt you typed, one project at a time, and it gets going when you open that project. A business that wants a fresh video each week still has to think it up, film it and press start.
What QuQi does instead
QuQi gives each of those needs to a teammate who works from your website, on days of its own.
Makes a film every Friday with no camera involved: it reads your website, plans each scene with your product photos, stock footage, a voice and music, and checks the result before you see it. Ask for a change in plain words and it edits the piece.
Puts a post on each channel you connect every day, and each one carries a picture or carousel laid out in your fonts and colours. When a film is ready, you send it out from the library or the chat.
Turns the same credits into articles: it researches a keyword your buyers search and publishes the piece to your site twice a week, so your films have pages worth pointing to.
Captions and QuQi, side by side
QuQi’s column is for a paid plan. The free plan audits and analyses the website, and publishing starts on a paid plan.
Captions’s details were checked on October 18, 2026 on its own pages: captions.ai/pricing, captions.ai/help/docs/ai-usage, captions.ai/help/docs/project/ai-edit, captions.ai/help/docs/project/ai-ads, captions.ai/help/docs/settings/export . Plans and features change, so check there before you buy. Captions is a trademark of its owner; QuQi is not affiliated with it.
When Captions is the better pick
QuQi is not the answer to everything Captions does. Stay with it, or use both, if this sounds like you.
- You film yourself talking and want cuts, captions, B-roll and music added in one tap, with eye contact fixed too.
- You want an AI Twin that looks like you, or an ad from a product link read by one of 200+ avatars.
- You want a video you already made dubbed into about 30 languages in your cloned voice, with lip sync.
Moving from Captions to QuQi
- 01
Keep the videos you made
Save your finished Captions videos and hand any of them to QuQi’s chat along with the text for the post. The crew sends them to the channels you pick, beside its own films and pictures.
- 02
Let it read your site
Add your website and QuQi learns your colours, logo and tone of voice, while Video Producer picks up the fonts your pages load. Link your shop or a Google or Facebook product feed, then choose a quality level for videos in Settings.
- 03
Film the moments, delegate the rest
Keep Captions for talking-head videos where your own face and voice matter. Let Video Producer take the weekly product film, and after a month look at how many videos each one really got out.

Captions alternative: common questions
Is there a free Captions alternative?
QuQi’s free plan audits your website and reads your business before you spend anything. Films, posts and articles begin once you choose a paid plan. Captions has a free version as well, with basic editing tools such as trimming and transitions.
Can QuQi edit a video I filmed?
Not the way Captions does. QuQi has no timeline and is not built to cut your recordings: Video Producer makes new films from your website, and you ask for changes in words. A video you finished elsewhere can still go out through the chat.
Does QuQi have an AI Twin like Captions?
Not yet. When a film needs a person, Video Producer invents one with AI, keeps that presenter for your brand and matches the lips to the voice. Your own face is not an option today, and that is the job Captions’ AI Twin does well.
Is Captions a good fit for a small business?
It is when someone on the team is happy to be on camera, because AI Edit and the avatars make a short video quick to finish. If nobody wants to film, or you want posts and articles to keep going as well, QuQi’s crew covers that from the website.
Can I use Captions and QuQi together?
Yes. Film and polish your own clips in Captions, then send them to QuQi’s chat to go out with your words on the day you choose. Around them, the crew adds the weekly product film, the daily picture posts and the articles.
