What it is in charge of

It starts with one responsibility: earn backlinks through the exchange, within the website’s backlink settings.

START HERE Nothing happens until you choose how the website takes part, under Website settings → Backlinks. Choosing Give and receive, Give only or Receive only is your agreement to the exchange: matched links are placed without asking you again, and the way to stop them is to change that setting.

What one batch does

A batch runs one round of the exchange: it checks the links placed so far, lets stale offers go, and offers new partners links, up to your monthly number of proposals. It reports the round back in the batch’s chat.

  • Matched links are placed inside your articles as they are written — at most three in one article, each to a different member, each in its own paragraph.
  • A matched link waits three weeks for an article to carry it. If none does, it is dropped.
  • A page receives between one and three links from the exchange, so no page turns into a list of other people’s links.
  • Every night, the links placed so far are checked to make sure they are still live.

How the credits work

Prices follow Domain Rating. Hosting a link on a site rated 40 earns 40 credits — so a stronger site earns more for hosting, and costs more to be hosted on. Your plan grants backlink credits each month, and the Backlinks page shows your balance and every link placed.

These belong to the website: Website settings → Backlinks.

SETTINGWHAT IT CHANGESDEFAULT
How this website takes part Not taking part — nothing happens. Give and receive — both directions, and the only setting that pays for itself. Give only — host links and bank the credits. Receive only — spend what you have and earn nothing back. Not taking part
Link proposals per month How many proposals the website may make in a calendar month: 1, 2, 3, 5 or 10. Each one counts the moment it is made, whatever becomes of it. 2
Link my own websites to each other Whether your own sites may link to one another. Never in pairs: a site that links to you cannot receive a link back. Off
Where links should point Listed pages first, then your published articles; listed pages only; or published articles only. Listed pages first, then my articles
Target pages & anchor text Pages to earn links to, each with the words the link should use. A full address or a path like /pricing, on your own domain. Empty

GOOD TO KNOW The Link Exchange has an auto-approve switch like every teammate, but none of its work waits for an approval box either way: your backlink settings already decide what it may do.
