# Versus And Alternatives Pages

Comparison prompts sit close to a purchase decision and get answered from whatever comparison content exists, which is usually a competitor page written to make you lose, or an affiliate roundup. A vendor page that wins on every axis is trivially contradicted against three other sources, so it gets discounted or dropped. The page that survives is the one whose specifics still hold when checked against the competitor own site.

## Ce qu’il vous faut d’abord

- The competitor names buyers actually pair with yours, taken from sales calls and assistant runs rather than from a market map
- A feature and price comparison you can defend line by line, with the date each competitor fact was verified
- The two or three cases where the competitor is honestly the better choice
- Whatever comparative advertising rules apply in your markets, which differ enough to change the wording

## Méthode

1. Choose pairings from real demand. A versus page for a competitor nobody names in a prompt is a page nobody retrieves.
2. State the verdict in the first two sentences, including who the other product suits better. A page that hedges to the end gives a model nothing to lift, and one that never concedes reads as an advert and is treated as one.
3. Compare on axes a buyer can verify: price at a named tier, a specific limit, a named integration, the date checked. Ease of use cannot be checked by anything and will not be repeated.
4. Name the competitor plainly throughout. Coy phrasing such as "the other tool" breaks the entity match that would have got the page retrieved for that comparison in the first place.
5. Date every competitor claim on the page itself and re-verify on a fixed cycle. A wrong price is the fastest route to the page being treated as unreliable, and competitors change pricing without telling you.
6. Write a separate alternatives page listing genuine alternatives, including ones you lose to. Alternatives-to prompts pull from lists, and a list of one is not a list.
7. After publishing, re-ask the comparison prompts and check whether your URL enters the cited set. If the answer still comes from the competitor page, the gap is normally specificity rather than length.

## Ce que ça produit

One dated comparison page per real pairing and one alternatives page, each leading with a verdict and built on verifiable, dated axes.

## Là où ça dérape

- Claiming to win on every axis, which a model contradicts from the competitor site and then discounts the whole page
- Letting competitor facts go stale, so you get quoted with a price that stopped being true a year ago
- Publishing a versus page for every competitor in the market, producing thin near-duplicates that compete with each other
- Building the table from your own marketing vocabulary, which no other source uses and nothing external can corroborate
